CELEBRATION OF LIFE
TERRIN MARCELLO JACKSON
MAY 16 TH 1954 God said it was time for a beautiful baby boy to enter the world weighing over 10lbs. to join his parents Joseph Benjamin Jackson Jr. and Alberta Delaney Jackson. He became the baby brother to Phelan and Ardythe. Later he became the big brother to Whynell, Durelle and Craig. He also had an older sister Kay.
TERRIN attended Wilmington Delaware public schools and graduated 1972 from Wilmington High School. As a youth, he played Little League football for Kingswood Community Center and continued his interest in football playing for Warner Junior High School. While attending Wilmington High School, Terrin wore jersey #66 while playing the position right guard on the Varsity High School football team. He helped the team win the first Delaware State Championship game in 1971. His love for the sport continued as an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Until his transition, Terrin held the position Sergeant of Arms for the 1972 Wilmington High School Organizing Committee. He was loyal and very committed to the organization. Terrin also attended Delaware State College, presently Delaware State University.
TERRIN was a proud Marine. He was the leader for his platoon 144 th division. He served 1975 to 1976 with an honorable discharge.
From an early age, Terrin had a love for the creative arts. While in elementary school he was the Pirate King in the play Pirates of Penzance which gave him a solo spot to share the gift of his singing voice. Later in life, Terrin briefly trained with Agnes Nixon. His acting credits include the stage play, “Pimps in the Pulpit” by Shannon Bellamy and “Watermelon Cornbread” by Derrick Reed. His movie credits include Creed I and Creed II, although Terrin said his Chrysler 300 was in more scenes than him. He was in a scene in Silver Linings Playbook featuring Bradley Cooper, Robert DeNiro and Chris Tucker. He also had the pleasure of being in the studio with Chadwick Boseman. In his down time Terrin could be heard playing his saxophone. He also participated in real estate.
TERRIN was often called upon to sing at different events. One of his most memorable singing engagements was when he had the opportunity to sing a duet with his daughter Tania.
TERRIN will be remembered for his impeccable fashion, always clean and coordinated. You couldn’t help but to notice when he entered the room, he had a great presence about him. He was an excellent dancer. Doing dances his style, and only his way. Bopping, Cha Cha, Cupid Shuffle, Slow Dance, Electric Slide, etc.
TERRIN was employed at Crest Container in Millville NJ. Moving back to Wilmington he worked for Gang #4 ILA Local #1694 Port of Wilmington as a stevedore Assist Forman, Crane Operator and Heavy Equipment Operator.
TERRIN loved the Lord. He would talk about God to anyone who would listen. He read the Bible and the Book of Jasher every day.
TERRIN was a people person and would help anyone. Often being a chauffeur, transporting people to the airport, train station, doctor appointments, etc. Terrin remembered holidays and everyone’s special occasion, and you could look forward to him calling you to sing, leave words of encouragement or just to say he was thinking about you.
TERRIN loved his family. He is known by many names, son, brother, nephew, cousin, Mister T, Uncle T, Papa T, Mr. Jackson, but his favorite title that he never got tired of hearing was from his children “DADDY/DAD”. His nieces & nephews knew when he came in their presence, they would hear him say “give it up, turn it loose”. This meant give me a hug or handshake.
