Ronald Edward Watson

May 6, 1975 — January 2, 2023

Ronald Edward Watson was born on May 6, 1975, to Father Michael Watson, a U.S. Army Veteran, and Mother Brenda Watson-Skinner of Wilmington, Delaware. Ronald attended Wilmington Public Schools, graduating from William Penn High School in 1994. As a High School athlete Ronald played both Football and Lacrosse. Ronald was a humble Cancer Survivor and Champion of Peace. He was affectionately regarded as the Gentle Giant by family and friends for his large stature and equally big heart. Ronald was a true Delawarean, a place he has proudly called home for most of his life.

On January 2, 2023, at just the age of 47, Ronald died startlingly from a series of health conditions at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. The family is deeply saddened by his unexpected passing.

Ronald’s memories will be honored by his adopted Great Aunt Jennie Coleman, Charles and Paula Greene, Phyllis Keys, James and Sandra Watson, uncle Jonathon Watson, Dorene and Glenn Starks, and Marlene and Robert Skinner-Temple.

He will leave footprints across the hearts of his nieces Alicia Simmons, Kaneya Skinner, Nasjia Skinner, Tanasia Skinner, Sahniya Mitchell, Tierra Harmon, Tinaya Harmon, and Lakia Newton. His nephews John Skinner, and William Mitchell. His great nieces and nephews. As well as his partner Sylvia, and a special brotherhood with Jason and George Davis. To include countless relatives and many other loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his father Michael Watson, both maternal and paternal grandparents, paternal Aunts, and maternal Uncles David, Pistol, William, Kenny, and Ronald Skinner whose name he carried.

Everyone who knew Ron felt his warm presence, big heart and giving nature. Although Ronald bared no children of his own, his uncle and Father-like love will be irreplaceable to his many nieces and nephews. He played the Black Santa role whenever they needed something special. Ron championed family. He loved family reunions and spending time with extended family and in laws. Ronald took the lead in coordinating numerous family touch and flag football tournaments in the spirit of his love for the game. A love he also shared for Paint Balling at the highest level.

In his later years his true passion peaked as an auto mechanic. Ron’s family, friends and community provided the nest of his customers. He will truly be missed for that.

The family would like to thank the ER, and Cardiac ICU of St Francis Hospital for their care during Ron’s numerous stays. In addition to, family and friends for their support, prayers, and monetary awards given to aid with his services. He will be truly missed by all he touched.
