Ronald Alston Davis was born in Wilmington, Delaware on July 16, 1954, to the late Perry L Davis, Sr. and P. Elizabeth Davis. He peacefully departed this life on December 28, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital.
Affectionately known as "Doc" and “Ronnie” to many, he was educated in the Wilmington Public School System. He was employed for a brief period by the DuPont Co., worked several years at Westminster Church in Wilmington, and retired from MBNA.
As a young man he had a love for pigeons. Ronnie put his carpentry skills to work, and built a pigeon coop in the backyard of his home raising pigeons as a hobby. He had many talents and sang for a time with a local singing group, but he was best known for his skills as a DJ throughout the Tri-state area. Ronnie created his own "DJ box" along with the "Scientist of Sound" label he used on his records. He was a crowd pleaser with his rhythms and rhymes as he shouted out “You’re listening to the sound of Dr. Disco Ron” leaving you with a loud “POP”! Nobody could do it like him. Ronnie was very lively and whatever family event there was, he would bring the music, the laughter and the fun.
Raised in a Christian family, Ronald gave his life to the Lord at St. Paul’s UAME church where he attended periodically.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Perry L. Davis, Sr, and P. Elizabeth Davis, his brother, the Reverend Perry L. Davis, Jr., and sisters Bonita Richardson, Jerilyn Marshall, and Dorothy Lloyd.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and faithful companion, Teresa “Patsy” Johnson, her son Kevin Johnson Sr. (Jackie) and her grandson Kevin “KJ” Johnson Jr. whom he adored; two sisters, Mary Ellen Benson and Patti Benson, six brothers Francis B. Roy, Brinton S. Davis, Sr., Kenneth A. Davis, Melvin E. Davis, Robert A. Davis, and Richard A. Davis, two brother-in-law James Benson, Jr., John Marshall, six sisters-in-law Carolyn Roy, Trudy Davis, Pamela Davis, Doris Davis, Doris Reeves and Kathryn Davis, one aunt, Verdie Brinson, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday January 14, 2022 at 11 am, Viewing 9-11 am from Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th Street, Wilmington, DE. Interment, Silverbrook Cemetery. All attendees must wear mask.
