Paul Douglas Ramseur, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully in his home in Mechanicsburg, PA on December 27, 2018. Paul was previously a long time resident of Wilmington, DE and Chester, PA. He was born on August 27, 1938 to the late Alfred and Sara (Lee) Ramseur in Lincolnton, NC.
Paul graduated from Chester High School and Wilberforce University, after which he began his long career as a teacher and coach. He made a substantive impact on the lives of many young people from the front of his Biology classroom or on the track at PS DuPont and Christiana High Schools.
Paul was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Aletha (nee Johnson) in 2016.
He is survived by his daughter Tewana Ramseur of Mechanicsburg, PA; son Paul, Jr. and daughter-in-law Nicole of Atlanta, GA and foster son Albert Horsey or Wilmington, DE; three grandchildren, Natalie, Mathieu and Paul, III; and countless other relatives and friends.
Paul, will be remembered as a teacher, coach, member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, avid Philadelphia sports team fan, and fierce friend.
His family and friends will celebrate his life on Monday January 7, 2019, at11:00 AM with visitation, an Omega Memorial Service and Funeral Mass at 10:30-10:45 am AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1012 N. French St. in Wilmington, DE immediately followed by interment at Rolling Green Memorial Park, 1008 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA. After which a Repast is scheduled in the St. Joseph church hall.
