Nana Marie Bey was born December 4, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Samuel K. Anderson, Sr. and Mahalia L. Howard. She was survived by her devoted and loving husband, Wayne D. Bey
Nana departed this life peacefully on May 23, 2021 in Season Hospice at Christiana Hospital.
Nana was a faithful member of Church of God Saints in Christ. She loved the Lord and loved to pray.
Nana attended Wilmington Public schools and was a former employee of General Motors.
Nana enjoyed spending time with her precious grandchildren who she loved so much. Robin Jamison, Shane Martin, Darrell Anderson, Daria Anderson, Dakeisha Anderson, Anthony Anderson, Darell Anderson, Robert Anderson, Aaron Anderson, Three Anderson. Her adoring grandchildren were her joy. She enjoyed spending time with them and spoiling them at home with popcorn, water-ice, snow cones, and cotton candy machines.
She enjoyed family gatherings and loved to dance, especially to James Brown.
Her passion was to serve. In her latter years, she faithfully served the homeless, whether it was at her church or the Emanuel Dining Hall, who will certainly miss her for her love and generous contributions. Her style was very unique, always impeccably dressed, sporting her matching turbans.
She leaves to cherish in her memory, children, Robert Anderson and Darrell Anderson She is also survived by sister Sandy Clark(Jesse) Middletown, DE; brother Samuel K. Anderson, Jr.(Vrana) Newark, DE, Cynthia Sturgis(Lawrence, Sr.) New Castle, DE, Maurice Howard(Sharifa) Wilmington, DE, Patricia Howard Wilmington, DE, Stephen Howard, Sr. (Renee'), Michael Anderson (Nancy) San Mateo, CA Kayekoa Leonard, Jamaica, NY, Barbara Howard-Jeffers(Richard), Wilmington, DE, and Regina Friday, Wilmington, DE. Nana also leaves to cherish her memory her devoted and loving Aunt Gwendolyn Evans Taylor and grandchildren. The extension of Nana also includes her great grandchildren Da'Maaj Johns, Maleah Valentin, Audrey Martin. Leah Anderson, Rhyan Anderson, a host of faithful devoted and loyal friends. Irish Wisher, Patricia Matthews and Francine Whye. Including a host of nieces, nephews, special close cousins, The Jackson Family and Johnson Families. Bishop Wilmore and family.
Celebration of her life will be held on Sunday June 6, 2021, Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Masks are required. Interment Monday June 7, 2021, Silverbrook Cemetery.
