Michael Vincent Coverdale, Jr. (Mikey) 28, was born in Wilmington, DE on June 24, 1992. He was the son of (late) Michael Vincent Coverdale, Sr. and Dawn Yvette Carn. Michael was educated in the Colonial School District in New Castle, DE. Michael Graduated from John G. Leach in 2013. Michael was named Prom King of the Class of 2013; at Leach. After graduation Michael attended the Chesapeake Care Resource Center located in Northeast, MD.
Michael was very active in the Move program, and enjoyed spending time with staff members and friends. Michael was also an avid member in the Special Olympics; and the Challengers League where he played softball, bocce ball, and ran track and field. During his time participating in the Challengers League his two favorite events were opening up for the Wilmington Blue Rocks, and fishing at Glasgow Park. Michael was a faithful member of Victory Christian Fellowship Church, where he really enjoyed the praise and worship and fellowship with his church family.
Michael had a very loving and kind spirit; and would light up any room with his big smile. Michael was loved by so many and touched the hearts of anyone who had the chance to get to know him. Michael’s greatest joys were spending time with family and friends; and eating (Chocolate Cake was his favorite). Michael enjoyed playing with his favorite ball and stuffed animals; Buddy, Brownie and Trooper. Michael enjoyed praise and worship, and going to the park. When you think of Angels on earth, Michael is definitely one of them.
Michael was called home on March 29, 2021 after being anointed with oil by his mom and sister. We were praising the Lord; and started singing a new song unto the Lord; and God came to receive Michael unto himself. Even though we are really feeling a extreme loss we trust God. God says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Make sure you always choose Jesus.
