Marie Elizabeth Starling

Marie Elizabeth Roane Starling, of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully transited her life on April 10, 2019 at the Christiana (Wilmington) Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

Marie was born August 6, 1926 to the late Alice Lee Rhone and George Henry Rhone, in Baltimore, Maryland.

She received her early education in King William, VA. She lived in Baltimore, Maryland, King William, VA, New York City and Wilmington, Delaware.

Marie worked with foster children. She attended Bible Christian Schools over the years. She loved the Lord. She attended Alpha Baptist Church, Joshua Harvest Church and a few others in her life time.

Marie enjoyed serving the Lord, loved to go shopping, loved her gospel music and loved being around her foster children that she helped to raise with Mrs. Bert Gordon. She also loved watching the news, loved her fried chicken, beef short ribs, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw and macaroni salad. Anything that had apple in it she loved; apple pie, turnover, fried, even a good red apple! Marie said that she could get threw anything as long as she had a piece of gum. She needed that piece of gum everyday!!

Marie leaves to cherish her memories; children, Margaret Dabney of Tennessee, Lorena Henderson of California. Antoinette Roane of Newark, DE, William R. Dempsey of Baltimore, MD, and Emery B. Roane of Philadelphia, PA., 20 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Best friend's : Alberta Gordon and Dorothy Rice. Her spiritual sisters: Rena Cannon, Delores Driggins, Martha Dorris and Brenda Williams. Her spiritual children; Brian Fergursion, and Denise Fergursion, god children; April Love Gordon, and  Martina Davis

She was preceded in death by brothers: Herman Roane, Benjamin Roane, and Clyde Agnew, sisters; Rose, Estella, Emma Carter, Dorothy Westcott, Leitha Roane and Delia Ballock, her children; Burnett Roane(Bunn), Oliver Roane(Butch), Cynthia Harrell (Cynt), Benjamin Roane, Carlton Roane, and the "Love of her life", Edgar Agnew (Mr. Shortie)

Service of celebration will be held on 11 am on Wednesday April 17, 2019, Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5 ^th St. Wilm. ,DE 19801. Viewing, 9-11 am. Interment, private
