Marvin Dartanya Brown

February 16, 1956 — June 9, 2018

Marvin Dartanya Brown passed peacefully on Saturday June 9, 2018. Marvin was born February 16,1956, the first son of Howard R. Brown, Jr. and the late Evelyn E. Brown, in Wilmington, Delaware.

He received his early education in the Wilmington Public Schools, graduating valedictorian from P.S. DuPont High School in 1974. After high school Marvin attended the University of Delaware. Upon leaving the University of Delaware Marvin worked at the Wilmington and Christiana Hospitals. He worked as a dietician and an outpatient clerk until his retirement in January 1998.

Marvin rekindled his friendship with his high school prom date, the late Diane Ford and they married in October 1997. Upon his marriage, Marvin relocated to New Jersey working for the Middlesex County as a personnel clerk until his retirement in 2011.

Marvin relocated back to Delaware living in Claymont. Marvin served as a church Deacon, and was a faithful board member of the Khigh Rondel Stephens Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc.

Marvin leaves to cherish his memory: his loving father, Howard R. Brown, Jr.; three brothers, Howard R. Brown, 3rd, Orlando A. Brown(Sherell) and Deion A. Brown(Mary), two sisters, Tracey T. Whye(John) and Leondra M. Brown, three uncles, Percy Leon Jackson(Shelia), Arvon U. Jackson and Robert S. Jackson, Sr. He was predeceased by his mother, Evelyn E. Brown, one great aunt Addie Massey, four uncles,                           Joseph Ben Jackson, Jr., Christopher N. Jackson, Sr., Joseph Harmon and Clarence White, Sr. five aunts, Rachel B. Jackson, Myrtle Jackson, Hannelore Jackson, Minverva Harmon and Margaret White and one great nephew Jayden Terrell Brown. Also his memory is cherished by seven nieces and two nephews, Stephanie, Alexis, Iyonia, Chauntie-Marie(Tay), Domonique, Shealyn, Aja, Orlando ll (OJ) and Trasjohn, eight great nieces and nephews, Ny'Ajha, Ny'Kii, Ny'Aire, Quadir, Kamir, Thor, Xavier and Jean-Luc, two sisters-in-law, Lisa Saunders and Felicia Morgan, a special aunt, Alberta Jackson, his special sister/cousin Whynell Jackson in addition to a host of cousins, friends and extended family.

Service will be held Thursday June 21, 2018 at 11 AM, viewing 9-10:45AM at Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church, 20 W. Lea Blvd. Wilmington, DE 19802.
