Martha Cecilia (Moore) Payne

Martha Cecilia(Moore) Payne, was born June 19, 1929 to the late James Moore, Sr. and Martha Moore in Philadelphia, PA. She very peacefully transitioned to her home in heaven on Wednesday June 5, 2019 surrounded by family at the Belvedere Nursing Home in Chester, PA.

Cecelia was educated in Darby, PA. She attended and graduated from Darby High School. She later went back to school to receive her Certified Nursing Assistant(CNA) certification. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor E. Ervin Millsaps.

Cecilia enjoyed dancing, going to the casino and other recreational activities. Cecilia enjoyed spending time with her cousins, Lorraine, Juanita, Marion and her best friend Jeanette. She was employed at Lit Brothers as a teenager in Philadelphia, PA. She retired from Fair Acres Nursing Home as a CNA. She worked as a Foster Granny in the Chester School system.

Cecilia was married to the late Marvin E. Payne, Sr. From this union three children were born. She enjoyed family time, and having a good time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted son Marvin E. Payne, Jr. and daughter Sheila Weber; four grandchildren, Danyelle, Wendy, Mark and Marche, two brothers Theodore(Gracie) Moore of Fayetteville, Georgia and Leon(Rose) Moore of New Castle, DE and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin E. Payne, Sr.; daughter Veronica Ware, brothers John Moore, Donald Moore and James Moore, Jr.

Service will take place on Thursday June 13, 2019 at 11am, Mother UAME Church 701 E. 5th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Interment, Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
