Margaret “Marcella” Lindsay was born on August 5, 1950 to the late Charles Rines and Lucille Lindsey-Rines in Wilmington, Delaware. Marcella received her formal education through the Delaware Public School System and graduated from Howard High School where she was a drum major.
In 1968 she gave birth to her only child Andrea Denise Lindsey-Ransom. Eleven years later she met Patrick Washington and he’s has been a devoted friend/step-father/grandfather ever since.
Marcella was an employee at the Veterans Medical Center for over 25 years. She received many awards for her outstanding work as a government employee and retired in 2013. Marcella lived a long and promising life. She enjoyed the many trips to Atlantic City with her friends where she would visit her favorite store, Michael Kors. Her happiest moment was her being surrounded by family on the Holidays, especially Christmas.
Marcella Lindsay gained her wings on Saturday October 9, 2021 surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by parents Charles and Lucille Rines. Her siblings; Robert, Jerome “Leach” and Ruth Lindsey as well as her nephews Craig, Charles, and Devon Lindsey.
She leaves to cherish her memory of one and only daughter Andrea Lindsey-Ransom(Roland), one and only granddaughter, Akira Lindsey-Ransom. A devoted friend for over 41 years Patrick Washington, one niece Robin Lindsey. Two nephews; Michael Lindsey and Robert Hollis and a host of grand nieces, grand nephews and other loving friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday October 29, 2021at the Congo Legacy Center, 501 W. 28 th Street, Wilmington, DE. Viewing 9-11 am, service 11 am. Interment, Silverbrook Cemetery. All attendees must wear masks.
