Karen Miller was born July 22, 1965 in the City of Wilmington, DE to the parents of Constance Murray and Leroy Daniels. She was called home to glory on August 11, 2018 in the care Compassionate Care/St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.
She received her early childhood education in the Wilmington Public School System, and later resided in Atlanta, GA where she attended the Public Schools and where she found the love for basketball and tennis. She played the clarinet and was a Majorite Team for the Soulletts of American Legions, Local #106 Reindeer Association. She attended Girls Scouts at Kingswood Community Center, in Wilmington DE. Karen Had the Love of Home Economics taught by Erma V. Peterson. After graduating from High School she pursued a career in modeling under the name of Charisma sponsored by Roy Campbell Modeling Agency. Karen then pursued a career in the Beauty and Barber industry as a hairstylist /barber. Karen”s final employment was with the City at the Port of Wilmington.
Karen enjoyed spending time with her 3 children, cooking, going to movies and out to dinner, playing cards, playing the lottery, shopping for hours, and long phone conversations with her family and friends. Karen loved listening to her favorite artists Whitney Houston and Marvin Gaye where she would sing out loud and dance to their music. She was full of love and laughter. Before the Lord called her home, Karen had the opportunity to travel to Las Vegas with her two youngest children for a family vacation, and celebrated her youngest son’s 12th birthday for the entire month of June and part of July. She was very photogenic with a smile that would light up a room. With her beautiful personality and affectionate laughter she was funny without even trying.
Karen Miller is proceeded in death by her grandparents: Erma D. McIntosh and James McIntosh, Sr. Karen leaves to cherish her memories, three beloved children: Andrew Miller, Deatrich L. Miller and Alfred Showell Jr., Mother: Constance Thomas, Father: Leroy Daniels, devoted sister: Norma Miller, Rita Daniels and Lea Daniels. Brothers: Norman Miller Jr. Timothy Miller, Erma C. Peterson, and Andre Joyner. (co-parents of Deatrich L. Miller). Survived by five aunts Erma V Peterson, Barbara Barnes, Gloria Ross and Ann Thomas. Three Beloved nieces: Nicole Cheeks, Deatrich Chambers, Kavone Peterson Devoted Friend Alfred Showell Sr. where she resided. Along with a host of other family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday August 24, 2018 at Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th Street Wilmington, DE 19801. Viewing, 9-10:45am and Service , 11:00 am
