Joseph O’Connell Morris, son of the late Ernest Roberts, and the late Helen Morris, was born May 7, 1955. He departed his life on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in Seasons Hospice at Wilmington Hospital after a two year battle with lung cancer.
Joseph received his education in the Wilmington Public School System. Joe was a very popular guy because he played basketball and football. He was a man of many hidden talents. He earned the name Broadway because he was the jack of all trades and had a beautiful singing voice. He furthered his education by attending trade schools. Joe attended his family church Bethel Pentecostal where he was always front row and if he was not you heard him like he was, it was no denying his faith he always hummed and sung the loudest. He was a true man of God. He had a smile that could brighten up a room and a laugh that could make the darkest days better.
He was definitely a show stopper and a fashion guru. He would spend hours getting ready so If he told you he would be ready in thirty minutes that meant two hours. He was such a conversationalist once he started talking it could go from religion to sports then to stories you weren't around to be in.
Joe spent his career at the state building and federal building where he made great long term friends. He married his long time love Diane Coston April 17, 2016. They spent 38 years together prior in which he raised three generations of Costons and we are forever grateful for being blessed with a spirit most never encounter. He loved everyone he came across.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Morris and Ernest Roberts, his brothers Thomas Morris (Omar Sherece), Billy Starky, Anthony Mason (Woody), Cedric, Chuck, Gale & Jay, sisters Stacy, Vanessa, Carla, Beverly , Shirley & GiGi.
He leaves to honor his memory: his brother Robert Morris, his children Nathaniel Coston (Naim), Moshonda Coston, Darius Crawley (Boop), Joseph Malloy (Little Joe), grandchildren Shakyra (Dookie Dookie), Yasmeen, Reign, Nyhe, Deshawn, Damon, Demetrious, Selena, Serenity, Kennedy, Ace and Darius.
