John Isaac Conley

August 13, 1934 — March 7, 2020

John was born on August 13, 1934 in Morganton, NC to the late John Clarence and Reatha Mae Conley and passed away on Saturday March 7, 2020 in Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. John was the oldest born of three children born through this matrimony. Preceding his death was his beloved sister, Amanda Martin.

John was educated in Burke County school system in Morganton, NC. He graduated in 1952 from Morganton High school. John met Carolyn Wongus in Wilmington, DE in 1954. They were married on December 15, 1956 for 53 years until Caroln's passing on May 13, 2009.

Mr. Conley enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 16, 1952 in Charlotte, NC. He was promoted rank of Senior Master Sergeant receiving numerous awards and medals. After twenty-eight years he chose to retire. Upon retiring he sought employment with Spectrum Chemical in Elkton, MD and Johnson & Johnson, Inc. in Wilmington, DE for many years.

John is survived by 4 daughters; Carolyn Leah Conley, Iris Thompkins, Stephanie Straughter & La-Kissha Conley. 3 grandchildren; Jordan Young, Sa-Kreea Jackson & Serene Thompkins. He also leaves to mourn 1 aunt; Annie Bryant and cousin  Harriet (Leroy) Crummy of Wilmington, NC, 1 sister; Sarah Fleming and niece Sarann (Melvin)Christopher; 2 sisters -in-law; Jeanne Daniels &  Norma Sharpe of Wilmington, DE. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
