Honorable Guy Reeves, Sr.
Guy Russell Reeves, Sr. , age 86, was born on November 16, 1935 in Oxford, PA. He was the son of the late Boyd R. Reeves and the late Rosie Belle Reeves. He departed this life on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Christ Temple.
At an early age Guy worked for Phillips Greenhouse. He worked there for several years until he received an offer to work for the Oxford Area School District. Which he worked for 30 years.
In 1985, he cofounded Reeves’ Used Furniture Store which operated until 2000. He was the owner of G & G Cleaning Service.
In 2000 he became the Assistant Pastor of New Apostolic Life Ministries, LLC.
Guy was loved by everyone that knew him. His easy going and loving demeanor superseded him wherever he went. He was known as the man with the smile that lit the world. He was also known as pop pop to the whole community. He was an advocate for many and loved blessing those in need.
His world-famous initial sermon, “It’s Time for a Checkup,” is still talked about today. Guy loved the Lord and didn’t mind standing up for what was right. Guy was anointed to sing and loved singing, dancing, and telling jokes. His presence will be greatly missed.
Guy is preceded in death by his parents Boyd & Rosie Reeves; 3 brothers Joseph, Paul & Robert Reeves, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda LP Reeves; They were known as each other shadow. When you saw one you saw the other. 8 children Darlene (Morgan) Robins, Tyrone Guy Reeves, Jerry (Elizabeth) Reeves, Charlene ( Bronell ) Chandler, Eric (Sharon) Reeves, Latricia (Adolf) Brew, DeeBorah (Marcus McGriff) Wright, Guy (Shayla) Reeves, Jr.; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sister Elsie Reeves, Florence (William) Dickinson; 3 Brothers Samuel (Helen) Reeves, Sr., Richard Reeves and James (Donna) Reeves; 6 Godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022. Viewing from 9-11 am at New Destiny Fellowship 906 16 th Street Wilmington, DE 19802. Masks are required.
