CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR FLORENCE ELLEN DRUMMOND

Florence Ellen Drummond born October 18, 1937 in Stockton Md. The daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Hattie Murray Drummond. She departed this life with grace and peace at home on March 2, 2022 with her loving daughter Cheryl at her side.
She attended Worcester High School in Md. Florence was employed with the Hotel Dupont, while employed there she met several celebrities. Later she was employed with the News Journal Company where she retired.
In her retirement years she worked as a foster grandparent at several community centers. She enjoyed working with children whom she would call her babies. Florence received from the State of Delaware many awards in honor of her service.
Florence was known for her beautiful white hair. She enjoyed hanging out with her departed sister Ruth and daughter Cheryl. She enjoyed taking trips to Md where she spent time with loved ones. She joined the St. Anthony Community Center where she enjoyed a variety of activities.
She was known as Flo, Ellen, and Aunt Abbey. I asked, Mom how did you get the name Abbey, she laughed and replied most of the nieces and nephews could not pronounce Ellen so they called her Aunt Abbey. She was known to her siblings as their Big Sister.
She was famous for her chicken and dumplings and her enormous yeast rolls.She always had to prepare an additional pan for her loving grandson Michael for whom she shared a very special bond.
Sister Drummond was a member of St. Paul UAME Church, under the leadership of Bishop Charles L. Amos. She was a faithful servant unto the Lord.
Florence is preceded in death by her parents Charles Sr. and Hattie Murray Drummond, sister Ruth Lundy, brother Daniel Drummond, nieces Teresa Drummond, Ph.D, Lisa Deshields Hayward, and nephew James R. Lundy III.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, daughter Cheryl Drummond-Jones (Harold) grandson Michael Drummond, Great Grandchildren Michelle Drummond, Brianna Drummond, Julian Ray, brothers Charles Drummond Jr. late (Diane), David Drummond (Eunice) sisters Leila Deshields and Darlene Sirmans. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition she leaves to cherish her loving memories daughter by choice Ellen Thompson-Cook, devoted niece Deborah Lundy, and adopted daughter Jackie Moultrie. She will be dearly missed.

Celebration of her life will take place on Monday March 14, 2022 at 11 am, St. Paul UAME Church, 3114 N. Market Street Wilmington, DE 19802. There will be no viewing. Masks are required.
