Emma Rozella(Wilson) Watson

July 19, 1925 — September 6, 2020

Emma Rozella (Wilson) Watson, better known as Rose peacefully closed her eyes on September 6, 2020 in the home where she raised her loving family at the age of 95 years old.  Rose was the last surviving child born to the late Albert and Lucinda (Duckery) Wilson on July 19, 1925 in Chesterville, MD.  She was educated in the Kent County, Maryland Educational System; even attending University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Rose came to Wilmington, DE many years ago and began her family, marrying the late Ellsworth Watson Sr.  From this marriage came five children, two daughters and three sons.  She proudly supported her family retiring as a domestic worker.

Family was very important to Rose, making sure that she always created opportunities for us to get together.  Her doors and loving arms were always open for the many visiting friends, family, and those who fondly adopted her as their mom and auntie.  She was a loveable, sweet, kind and very hospitable person who experienced the joy of giving by always looking out for others.  Giving extra love and care to her very special son Ellsworth Jr.  She enjoyed cooking and baking, having favorite dishes for various members of her family.  Rose always made sure she looked good even if she was only going to the supermarket; making sure she got pampered by getting her nails and hair done well into her 90’s.  A classy lady with lots of style, being known for her fabulous hats!

Rose was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Wilmington, DE being the oldest living member at the time of her death.  Her relationship with her heavenly father was very important to her.  She tirelessly made comforting visits to many of her friends and congregational members.  She was a Seniors Saint, Willing Worker and Red Hat Society member.

Our “Hero before God”, Rose leaves a legacy of Love of God, family, and humanity; hard work, and compassion.  She will be missed, yet her memories will live on in our hearts like a Star.

She was preceded in death by Brothers:  Edward Wilson and James E. Wilson; Sisters Louise (Wilson) Frison and Marvel (Wilson) Elliott; Grandchild:  Kirk Bolden; and Son-in-Law:  Charles Bolden (Butch).

Rose leaves to cherish her love and fond memories:  Children:  Corinthia Bolden (NY), Glenn Watson (DE), Norma Watson (DE), Ellsworth Watson Jr. (DE), and James Watson (Veronica) (FL).  Grandchildren:  Derrick Bolden (Glenis), Glendora Sealey (Anthony), Taihitia Watson-Wilmer (Francis) and Jarron Watson (Nichole).  Great Grandchildren:  Hasani Wilmer, Jasne Wilmer, Shanna Bolden, Cannon Watson, and Harper Rose Watson.  Step-Grandchild:  Jaymen McClain.  Great, Great Grandchild:  Ahzara Liarra LaRue.  Sister-n-Law:  Janice Wilson.  Niece:  Myra Watson.  Adopted Family:  The Derrick Lowman Family, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
