Decaroll Douglas Hines "Dee"

November 2, 1956 — December 3, 2023

DeCaroll "Dee" Douglas Hines, 67, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on December 3,2023. Dee was born on November 2, 1956, in Bridgeville, Delaware. He was a loving husband to Barbara J. Hines and a devoted father to his five children; Demetrius Hines (Laniece), Latoya Blake, Syrita Rozier, Michelle Brown, and Lamont Brown(Mel). Dee also cherished his five grandchildren.

Dee had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was a skilled cook and loved barbecuing on his hibachi. Watching the sunset was one of his favorite pastimes. Dee had a calm and quiet demeanor, always more of a listener than a talker. He had a keen eye for detail and was known for his meticulous approach to his work.

Dee attended Sussex Central High School and later pursued higher education at the University of Delaware, where he earned a degree in Business and Human Services. He served in the Army for two years, proudly contributing to his military associations.

Throughout his career, Dee held various positions, including working at the News Journal, Delaware Solid Waste Authority  and as the owner  of Dee's Contracting. He also served as the Manager of Delaware Northeast Federal Credit Union and worked at the Homeless Veteran Shelter of Wilmington. Dee's dedication and attention to detail were evident in every role he held.

In his free time, Dee enjoyed music, flying kites, and cooking. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life and embraced the outdoors with enthusiasm.

A memorial service will be held 11 am on Wednesday February 7, 2024, at The Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery located at 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware 19701
