Clarence Eugene Taylor

January 28, 1932 — July 24, 2022

Clarence Eugene Taylor passed away surrounded by family on July 24, 2022 at the age of 90.

Clarence was born January 28, 1932 in Wilmington, Delaware to Herman Wellington Taylor and Rosa Cephas.

Clarence was a Howard High School Alumni. He enlisted in the United States Army from 1948 to 1950. During this time, he fought in the Korean War; and was awarded the Korean Service Medal W/1, Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After his service in the military, Clarence worked as a Laundry man and a Sanitation worker. He was also the Deacon of Harriet Tubman church in Wilmington, Delaware.

His interests included fishing, word search puzzles, collecting cans, and watching sports. He was a known fan of the Washington Redskins and the Golden State Warriors.

Clarence is preceded in death by his father Herman Wellington Taylor, his mother Rosa Cephas; his children Clarence E. Taylor jr , Robert Taylor, Robin Govens and, Daine Haskin ; his brothers Pete Taylor and James “Jim" Cephas  ; and sisters Helen Taylor , Ann Smoke , Gladys Cephas , and Phyllis Cephas.

Clarence is survived by his wife Faye Taylor; his children Carolyn Bullock, Deborah Bullock, Ronald Taylor, Gary “Michael” Bullock, Gregory Bullock, Bruce Taylor, Clarence Taylor, Pamala Black, Josephine Cassidy, Lola Taylor, Trudy Taylor, Linda Taylor ; devoted companion Helen Harmon; his Former wife Loretta Taylor; his brother Ed Cephas; his stepchildren Leroy Watson, Victor Harmon and Carlis Harmon and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Celebration of his life will be Monday August 15, 3022 at Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th St. Wilmington, DE 19801. Viewing, 9-10:45, Service 11 am. Masks are required.  Interment, Delaware Veterans Cemetery
