Edwin Wilson was born on April 5, 1953 in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Isaac Wilson, Sr. and Vera Britt Wilson, the third-born of seven children. He departed this life in his sleep on Sunday, October 15, 2017.
He moved to Wilmington, DE in 1957 and with his family joined St. Paul UAME Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Frazer at the 11th Street location. He was a member of the Children’s Choir then the Intermediate Choir. In 2008, Edwin’s health began to fail until he sought the Lord. The Lord heard his prayer. Edwin testified until the end on how Jesus gave him a second chance at life.
Edwin’s education began in the Wilmington Public schools. He graduated from Wilmington High School and continued his education at Delaware State (College) University.
Edwin was a great provider, always working two jobs. For over 40 years Edwin worked in the Fire-Suppression Technology Department of the DuPont Company and at Sears in the Package-Pickup Department. He loved his work and was highly loved and respected by everyone who knew him.
Edwin was a sports fanatic. He loved his Philadelphia Phillies, 76ers and Eagles: E-A-G-L-E-S!
Edwin had a big heart for family. He kept in contact with his family located throughout many states. His home was full of joy with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was especially good at preparing his secret recipe of home fried potatoes. We laughingly teased him when he first brought them to a cook-out. Then the joke was on us as many requested them all the time.
Edwin was preceded in death by his brother and sister, Isaac Wilson, Jr. and Emma Jean Wilson Terrell. He leaves to Cherish his memories children and stepchildren: daughters—O. Keri Thomas, Knisha Thomas, Tymira Wilson, Kelsey McCray (Michael) of Jacksonville, Florida, Leslie Moore Reeves (Aaron), Taneka Robinson, and Tanesha Robinson; sons – Khalil Erevu Wilson, Karriem Moore (Dana), and Ernie Thomas (Charisse); He loved them all and often was heard saying: “I have 47 grand- and great-grandchildren;” two sisters, Rev.
