Vernia M. Mcgee

Vernia M. McGee age 64 was born to the late Annie Holland and Alex Gamble. She passed eternal life on Monday July 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

She received her education in the Wilmington Public Schools graduating from Howard High School in 1971. Her higher education was received at the University of Delaware where she sang in the choir.

Vernia started her working career at the Veterans Hospital. She changed careers and began working for Citibank until 2013. She was a Customer Service Specialist where clients loved her

She was the mother of 2 daughters, Juanita McGee-Tate and Roberta McGee Barrett(Ron). She was the loving partner of Chester Hawkes for 30 years and shared a cherished bond with his children; Tracy Haynes(Vernon), Tonya, Ericka, Chester Jr. Hawkes. Vernia was the loving grandmother to Keith and Kendra Mc Gee and a great grandmother of 7.
She was the sister of 2 brothers Samuel Shird(Sandy) and Clarence Tribble(Mary).

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at 7 pm. Viewing 5-7 pm, Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th St. Wilm., DE.
