William Shorter
William Shorter “Bill” surrounded with love by his son and family closed his eyes on Tuesday, February 14, 2012.
Bill was born May 20, 1929 surrounded with the love of his father, William Wing and his mother, Clara Shorter.
As a child, he became a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and became an Altar Boy.
Bill also attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
He served and was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
Bill was united in matrimony with Gloria B. Laws; to this union a son, Wayne Keith Shorter was born. He later was united in matrimony with Estella Moss, his wife for 39 years; to this union were Brenda, Barbara, Debra, Richard, Ralph, and Bernard.
Bill loved people, and in turn was loved by them. He loved to talk and never met a stranger. He loved and was deeply loved by his family.
Pop (Pop-Pop) will be sadly missed by his son: Wayne Shorter (Mary); grandchildren: Delania,
Wayne II (Jennifer), and Danielle (Shawn); great grandchildren: Laticia, Javelle, Diamond, Kani, and Lyrick. Also left to cherish his memory are Brenda Harrison (Isaac), Barbara McDonald (Wayne), Debra Scott (Scottie), Richard Moss, and Bernard Moss; grand-children, great grandchildren, cousins, other relatives & friends. Special friends: Lem Church, Swather Watson and his friends at DeLaWarr Senior Center.
Mass will be held on Tuesday February 21, 2012 at 11 AM, viewing, 10-11 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1012 French St. Wilmington, DE. Interment, Delaware Veterans Cemetery
